Starting a new school year it is always an exciting time for many of us, because it represents a new beginning of a chapter of our lives. While students embark in a new grade level, I begin the 2017-2018 school year with great pride and excitement on my professional journey as the newly appointed Principal of Rio Vista Elementary School, a 2014 National Blue Ribbon School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school that has attained several academic recognitions at the state and national level and has produced so many outstanding students. With a new school year, students also have a chance to make new friends, set new learning objectives, and foster new learning habits which will lead to their academic success.
As the principal of Rio Vista Elementary, I take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about my educational experience. I was a principal for the 2016-2017 school year at the Little Lake City School District. Before that I had been dedicated to the field of education for more than twenty-two years in various capacities at Rio Vista Elementary School. For five years, I served as the Digital Learning Instructional Coach and Principal’s Administrative Designee and feel fortunate to work in an educational community of staff and parents who set high expectations for student learning. I am delighted to bring my skills as an educational leader back to Rio Vista Elementary School and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child’s success.
Along with teachers and staff, I will work hard to continue the legacy of success established at Rio Vista Elementary School by building strong relationships with parents, students, and community partners. We will focus on character education initiatives, Common Core skills, use of data to inform instruction, consistent implementation of newly adopted direct instruction techniques to increase students’ achievement, continue and implement additional positive behavior intervention strategies, and provide exciting and challenging enrichment opportunities for all students.
At Rio Vista Elementary School, we are eager and excited to begin what promises to be a successful year. The 2017-2018 school year is going to be amazing as we continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant and builds relationships. As the new principal, I welcome you all to a great year at Rio Vista Elementary and please continue to support our mission so that together we will continue to serve our students with the best possible education for their academic and emotional success. My door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to stop in, call or email me to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this the best year yet!
