Rio Vista students and staff participated in two charitable drives before winter break: a pajama drive and a canned food drive. We collected 180 pairs of pajamas which Scholastic is distributing to those in need. We also collected over 450 cans of food which were delivered to a local food bank. Way to act with character, Panthers!

Over winter break, all Rio Vista students were challenged to read using myon. They were successful. One of our top winners, Charlotte, read for 880 minutes: that is almost 15 hours! In early August, Rio Vista Elementary School was awarded the Silver Medal for PBIS implementation. In order to meet this achievement, Rio Vista had to demonstrate excellence in the implementation of PBIS at Rio Vista. Read more by clicking the title of this story above.
Students are currently in the process of running for student council office for this academic year. 4-5th grade students will be delivering speeches to all upper grade students this coming Friday in an assembly for students only. Following the speeches, all classes will be voting for their candidates. Winners will be announced before the end of the school day. Look back here for more information soon!
