We Can't Wait to See Our RV Panthers on the First Day of School! ¡No podemos esperar en ver a nuestros RV Panthers en el primer día de clases de nuevo!

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 14th. It is also a Modified Day. Dismissal for Special Education Preschool is at 12:00 pm, TK-kinder at 12:55 pm, and 1st-5th grade at 1:05 pm. Please be mindful of the bus zone loading and unloading of our Special Education students and park on the designated areas.

El primer día de clases es el miércoles 14 de agosto. También es un día modificado. La salida para el preescolar de educación especial es a las 12:00 pm, TK-kinder a las 12:55 pm, y del 1º al 5º grado a la 1:05 pm. Tenga en cuenta de la zona de autobuses que nuestros estudiantes de educación especial boarden y desborden. Por favor de estacionarse en las áreas designadas y no en la área de autobuses.

Special Education Preschool, TK, and Kinder Kick-Off! Preescolar de Educación Especial, TK, y Kinder Kick-Off!

If you have a child in our Special Education Preschool Program, TK, or kindergarten, please attend with your child our Kick-Off before the first day of school on Tuesday, August 13th at 5:00 pm. Your child's teacher will go over the classroom and school-wide expectations as well as schedules and other important information. PTO will be selling school t-shirts on this day as well.

Si tiene un hijo o hija en nuestro programa preescolar de educación especial, TK o kinder, asista con su hijo/a a nuestro inicio antes del primer día de clases el martes 13 de agosto a las 5:00 pm. Las maestras de su hijo o hija repasará las expectativas del salón y de toda la escuela, así como los horarios y otra información importante. PTO también venderá camisetas de la escuela en este día.

Rio Vista Gives Back

Rio Vista students and staff participated in two charitable drives before winter break: a pajama drive and a canned food drive. We collected 180 pairs of pajamas which Scholastic is distributing to those in need. We also collected over 450 cans of food which were delivered to a local food bank. Way to act with character, Panthers!

Students Succeed in Reading Challenge

Over winter break, all Rio Vista students were challenged to read using myon. They were successful. One of our top winners, Charlotte, read for 880 minutes: that is almost 15 hours! THE PBIS Silver medal

PBIS Silver Award

In early August, Rio Vista Elementary School was awarded the Silver Medal for PBIS implementation. In order to meet this achievement, Rio Vista had to demonstrate excellence in the implementation of PBIS at Rio Vista. Read more by clicking the title of this story above.

Student Council Elections

Students are currently in the process of running for student council office for this academic year. 4-5th grade students will be delivering speeches to all upper grade students this coming Friday in an assembly for students only. Following the speeches, all classes will be voting for their candidates. Winners will be announced before the end of the school day. Look back here for more information soon!

Successful First Fundraiser

A giant thank you and congratulations to our Rio Vista Community. The first fundraiser of the year was hugely successful. Thank you for all your hard work and commitment to the success of our school.

Suggested Supplies List 2018/2019

If you would like to help with supplies for your Rio Vista scholar for next year, here is a list of supplies that will help with learning. To access the list, click on the title above. All supplies donations are happily accepted at any time during the year.

Parent Workshops, Fall 2018

There are three parent workshops planned for this fall. Rio Vista will be offering an introduction to online tools for learning, an overview of how supporting your child at home with AVID can support them on their journey to college, and a workshop on all things bullying and how to stop it. Pajama Drive at Rio Vista

We are partnering with Scholastic to collect pajamas for those in need. We need any size and will be collecting until December 11th. Rio Vista will also get a book for every pair donated. Click the link for additional information.
